Council takes back control of the VPG The community interest company (CIC) which runs Goole’s Victoria Pleasure Ground (VPG) has announced it has handed the running of the venue back to Goole Town Council after four years at the helm. After being formed in 2017 to manage the venue, the CIC will now hand the reigns back to the council to ensure the venue will be eligible to receive funding from the Goole Town Deal. Sewing Brigade are recognised with medals The Marshlands Sewing Brigade group members have been awarded commemorative medals for supporting NHS staff during the pandemic. The group created over 1,700 items of clothing for the frontline staff when scrubs were in short supply. Their efforts were acknowledged by the founder of the group Fran Ward, when she organised a garden party for the ladies, where they were awarded with medals by Cllr Caroline Fox. (16-09-203 SU)
